STEP BY STEP

Let's make something delicious.

  1. 01

Very finely dice the onion, garlic and celery. Slice 2 jalapeños. Thinly slice the gherkins and set aside.

  2. 02

Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Gently fry the onion, garlic and celery.

  3. 03

Once the onion is translucent after 5 minutes, add the minced beef and break it up as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. 04

After about 10 minutes, add the sliced jalapeños, ketchup and barbecue sauce and fry for a few more minutes. Reduce the heat and season with Worcestershire sauce and paprika. Continue to simmer until the sauce is thick and sticky. Season again with salt and pepper.

  5. 05

Split the buns, lightly butter the cut sides and toast them cut-side down in a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat until crisp. Reduce the heat and remove the top halves. Turn the bottom halves over and spoon 2-3 spoonfuls of the minced beef sauce onto each. Top with the cheese slices, cover the pan with a lid and allow the cheese to melt.

  6. 06

Carefully lift the bottom bun halves out of the pan, top with gherkins and add the top halves. Secure a jalapeño on top of each bun with a wooden skewer.
